Moving around the map occurs in a step-by-step mode on individual tiles, made in various variations. The main character can be controlled both with a controller and with a keyboard and mouse.

The game «HyperOutcast» is filled with a huge amount of content, which is reflected in the giant list of achievements, which includes 295 awards of varying difficulty. They increase the user’s interest, and provide challenges for experienced players. The gameplay is complicated by the fact that due to the strange structure of fictional universes, navigation in space is complicated, and it is almost impossible for the gamer to return a second time to where he has already been. The developers also used mechanics from the roguelike genre to create intricate difficulties, constantly updated with the help of artificial intelligence.
