THE LONGING

The Longing can immediately be called a unique game. The main character is the servant of the king who ruled the underworld. The king hibernated for 400 days to recuperate, and you need to wait for him to awaken in an empty palace. The timer starts the moment you turn on the game for the first time and does not stop even when you close the game or turn off the computer. The only thing that depends on you is how you spend these 400 days. You can explore the caves in search of new trinkets with which to decorate your room, or simply kill a lot of time exploring the albeit modestly furnished, but quite extensive passages.

Don’t look for the sprint button. The main character has nowhere to rush, so he moves rather slowly. The whole game is built on the ability to wait. If you don’t know what else to do, you can go to the game library and start reading classic books from Nietzsche to Moby Dick. The books are currently only available in English, please note.

The game also has several different endings, but it is said that it is impossible to play through the game multiple times just to see them all. Not only because it’s very long, but also because of the tricky save system that makes it difficult to just pick it up and start again. Maybe on another computer? Or give it to a friend and watch his finale?

• The slow and leisurely movement of the character can be automated by giving him a specific route. Then go about your business and come back when the time comes.
• Explore a network of underground tunnels and passages. Even in this empty palace, there are still many trinkets left that will be useful to you.
• Everything takes time. Can’t get to a certain location? Just wait. Something will definitely happen that will unlock your access. A stone will fall or moss will grow. You’ll see, this will help.
• Decorate your home. With each new piece of decor and with each improvement, the speed of time increases.
• Choose to your taste not only what you will do and how exactly you will play this game, but also how it will end. Choose wisely, you may not have the opportunity to replay it.
